White and black ink on cream color card stock. The white is first printed as a screen, then embossed with a second die—all of this is with hand cut, 1/2" steel dies. The black is a straight die stamping, also from a steel die. The registration is crucial as the negative space defines the design.
This cipher was first press proofed using about a dozen different combinations of straight impression, no emboss and no screen, with screen, with screen emboss and no emboss, white with blue added...and etc.
